In the late September of 2023 AKIHO Central Europe warmly invited all breeders, owners, and Akita lovers to the first AKIHO Show in Poland.

Almost 100 years ago, a group of Japanese Akita breeders and enthusiasts (then known as Odate Inu) who were determined to preserve and protect the native Akita breed founded an association that is now known as Akita Inu Hozonkai (AKIHO). As a result of the organization’s activities, the Akita was declared a National Natural Monument of Japan in 1931, and its official name – Akita or Akita Inu – was recognized. Shortly afterward, the first dog registrations began, and in 1938 the very first AKIHO show was held.

This Japanese initiative has gained increasing recognition, and breeders from all over Europe have taken part in AKIHO shows organized across the continent. These gatherings became a platform to present the most beautiful representatives of the breed and exchange breeding experiences – all under the watchful eyes of Japanese experts. Until now, AKIHO shows in Europe have taken place in Italy and – for the first time last year – in France. This year, we had the honor of hosting this prestigious event in Poland.

In the special year marking the 100th birthday of the famous Hachiko, we invited everyone to the 1st AKIHO Central Europe Show. As part of the event, a specialist seminar and a festive dinner in a relaxed atmosphere were organized – a wonderful opportunity to build and nurture friendly relationships between breeders and lovers of the breed. As mentioned, this special show was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hachiko’s birth – the dog who became internationally renowned for his unwavering loyalty. On this special occasion, a unique award – the Hachiko Trophy – was introduced. It was awarded to the most outstanding representatives in the show classes, adding emotion and prestige to this extraordinary event.
